An attractive small South German red tortoishell bracket timepiece with automaton, circa 1740.

Arched brass dial with pewter chapter ring and foliate pierced spandrels, an opening above flanked by angels depicting paradise with Adam and Eve with an encircling snake connected to the going train of the 30-hour movement with verge escapement. The quality and gilding of the cast spandrels and the automaton is very good.
The break arch ebonized and tortoishell case raised on four gilt feet.
