A fine Dutch burr walnut striking longcase clock J P Kroese Amsterdam circa 1730
arched brass dial with silvered engraved chapter ring with Roman numerals and half-quarter marks signed J.P. Kroese Amsterdam, pierced blued hands and silvered alarm disc, matted centre with subsidiary seconds and apertures for date and day of the week, high relief pierced brass scroll spandrels, moonphase in the arch with finely engraved border and clouds, 8-day movement with anchor escapement and rack half hour striking, alarm work, fine burr walnut veneered case of high quality surmounted by three urns finials, fine foliate pierced frets to the front and sides of the hood, concave sided trunk with long shaped door, base with scroll sides raised on bun feet.
This clock shows great workmanship in all details. The engraving of the dial is of the highest quality as well as the carved details and fretwork.
