An unusual and imposing French travelling/desk clock with calender, circa 1840

A very unusual handsome good looking Travelling/Desk clock with features making it different from the usual carriage clocks. 

The very attractive case with the gilded mounts, together with the aperture for the calenderwork under the enamel main dial with Roman nrs and gilded Brequet hands.

The 8-day striking movement with countwheel on bell. Steel spring suspension. The calenderwork with days of the week and dates of the month together with the moonphase .The beautifull case mounted on bun feet.

The imposing handle on top is very spectectular and the clock is waiting for a nice place on a writing desk or on a nice place in an office or library . Handle up 45 cm / Handle down 40 cm.
