A very attractive high quality good looking Louis XV French tortoishell bracket clock with matching bracket signed GUDIN A PARIS circa 1740.The lovely proportions and wonderful bronzes together with its popular size makes this clock very desirable.

The case with beutifull gilded mounts. The choice of the structure on the tortoishell overlaid case is smartly done.The matching bracket of unusual design with very different bronzes makes the total of the clock complete. On the door a very unusual bronze showing the sand-blade telling you time comes-time goes. On top a romantic young boy with a rooster in his hand and trying to reach the sky with the other hand.

The 8-day GUDIN A PARIS signed striking movement with count-wheel verge escapement and silk threat suspension.The very beautiful dominant typical early Louis XV dial with " 25 white enamel and blue Roman numerals and in black Arabic minutes, together with typical blue-steel nicely pierced hands. In the white enamel centre the signature Gudin a Paris .

Gudin was a eminent and well-known listed clockmaker.
